Dermatology is great. Patients never really get better, but they also never die- guaranteed return business. No lawsuits, great hours, no worries. Is it any wonder?
The ob/gyn who delivered our son, after five thousand other babies, went into plastic surgery because too many people were suing, and winning, for "wrongful births." That was more than twenty years ago. From what I read these suits have only gotten worse.
The overlawyered guys pointed out that the malpractice insurance rates for ob/gyn's and plastic surgeons are very different. The Times article only mentions that near the end of the article. $140,000 a year difference in malpractice insurance rates for two doctors. Obviously, that is going to push people out of the practice.
